Pai Gow Poker is a current game with ancient origins. Built on the ancient Chinese tile game and the current American adaptation of poker, Pai Gow poker combines the east with the wild west in a great game for beginner level players.
Pai Gow is a poker game that pits the player against the casino, not like nearly all other poker games that gamblers wager with other gamblers. By competing against the dealer, starting players do not need to worry about any other, more skillful players winning their money.
A further Pai Gow edge is the relatively slow game play, rookies should be able to take their time and strategize while not needing to make frenzied decisions.
It is also easier to play for a very long time with just a tiny bit of cash seeing as, to not win, each of your hands must be lower than each of the dealer’s hands.
Pai Gow is played with 53 cards; the familiar 52-card basic deck and a single joker. The player is assigned 7 cards faces showing and the croupier gets 7 cards face down.
One five card hand and a two card hand have to be made from the 7 cards, the 5 card hand has to be higher than the 2 card hand. To win, a player needs both of his hand totals to be higher than the dealer’s.
