Web poker has become world famous lately, with televised tournaments and celebrity poker game events. The games universal appeal, though, stretches back in fact a bit farther than its TV ratings. Over the years several variations on the earliest poker game have been developed, including a few games that are not in reality poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is 1 of these particular games. Despite the name, Caribbean stud poker is most closely affiliated with chemin de fer than old guard poker, in that the players wager against the dealer rather than each other. The succeeding hands, are the established poker hands. There is little conniving or different types of deception. In Caribbean stud poker, you are required to ante up before the dealer declares "No further wagers." At that point, both you and the dealer and of course all of the other players are given 5 cards each. Once you have seen your hand and the casino’s first card, you have to either make a call bet or surrender. The call wager’s amount is akin to your beginning wager, which means that the stakes will have increased two fold. Giving Up means that your ante goes instantaneously to the casino. After the bet is the showdown. If the casino doesn’t have ace/king or better, your bet is returned, plus an amount on par with the initial wager. If the bank has a hand with ace/king or greater, you win if your hand defeats the dealer’s hand. The bank pays out chips equal to your wager and fixed expectations on your call bet. These expectations are:

  • Equal for a pair or high card
  • 2-1 for two pairs
  • three to one for three of a kind
  • four to one for a straight
  • five to one for a flush
  • 7-1 for a full house
  • twenty to one for a 4 of a kind
  • 50-1 for a straight flush
  • 100-1 for a royal flush
