The History of Poker Money

September 9th, 2012 at 1:21

Poker chips have been made from a huge selection of materials in an almost endless variety of styles since the creation of gambling and the requirement to keep an eye on winnings. The most common materials employed at this time in the manufacture of new poker chips are plastic, clay composite, and acrylics. Clay chips, the primary of the bunch, have been made in the US since the late 1800s.

Back in the 19th century, poker enthusiasts seemed to use any tiny item with value you can imagine. Early poker players at times employed jagged gold pieces as well as chips – primarily manufactured of wood and clay. By the 20th century, poker chip features started to enjoy a greater prominence, and the smooth edges of older chips were given up to chips with engraved slits to keep them neatly stacked together.

There is little debate that poker has expanded constantly in appeal ever since its beginnings in the 19th century. With the huge advancement of internet gambling and specialty television shows, public interest in poker has accelerated faster than ever before. Many folks are initially introduced to poker by television showslike "Celebrity Poker" or "Poker After Dark," and many will bet on their initial hands online. Despite net poker’s rise, not much competes with the feeling of holding weighty poker chips in your hand, throwing chips into the middle of a poker table, or stacking tall pilesstacks of chips after showing a victorious hand.
