Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker competitor in the world by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before his first birthday. His papa taught him penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to discover everything he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely told his elders that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil did not let the adverse comments from other people kill his goal of being one of the greatest poker competitors on the planet.
Phil started competing seriously after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his game at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for him were a learning period and winning was not a normal thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made 2 final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he defeated many of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil made a decision to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his success to dedication and an eternal love for poker. He states that he is learning every day and is incredibly abashed about his accomplishments. He admits to making mistakes every single game of poker and constantly strives to improve.
Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a normal basis.
